THE NEW POINTS

The Australian government has just announced the proposed new points test for skilled migration visas lodged on or after 1 July 2011. Under the new points test, successful migrants will continue to claim points through a combination of age, studies, English language and work experience. However the emphasis is now on high English proficiency and Australian work experience. Please note that although you do not get awarded points for your nominated occupation, the new skilled occupation list will still apply.
